Dr. Sandra L. Gogel is the founder and president of La Source Parisienne (LSP), and is responsible for organizing and delivering customized antiquing services to an international crowd of Art and Antique collectors, dealers, designers and museum curators.
Dr. Sandra L. Gogel graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1974 with a BA with Honours in Art and Archaeology, and later received an MA (1976) and a PhD (1985) degree from the University of Chicago, granted by the Oriental Institute.
She also holds a Masters degree (1978) in teaching from Spertus College in Chicago.
Dr. Sandra Gogel is a published author whose studies and research have influenced her in choosing to launch La Source Parisienne.
Founded in November 2002, La Source Parisienne was oriented solely to local Parisians, and has now become a highly-regarded international antiquing service.
Dr. Gogel decided in March 2003 to incorporate in La Source Parisienne's services the opportunity for clients to receive informative educational data on the antiques and works of art in which they are most interested.
Later that year, La Source Parisienne evaluated how its 'Learn and Buy' sessions should be organized. In association with two major international educational and cultural organisations, WICE (Women's Institute for Continuing Education) and AWG (American Women's Group), Dr. Gogel identified the need for a better understanding of antique purchasing, as well as insights about the objects themselves. In answer to that need, she has set up a series of courses that will take place over the next 12 months.
Dr. Gogel has lectured and worked with groups from the American Embassy as well. She also speaks about buying antiques in Paris and France to Paris newcomers as part of the Bloom Where You are Planted Orientation Program in Paris each October.
Previous to the founding of La Source Parisienne, Dr. Sandra L. Gogel had worked as an antique dealer throughout Europe for 18 years.
In 1985, she moved from the United States to Paris where she now resides.
Dr. Gogel is a former member of the Board of Trustees at the Centre for Jewish Art at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, the Women's Institute for Continuing Education (WICE) and the American Women's Group (AWG), both in Paris.
Dr. Sandra Gogel lives in Paris with her husband Robert and four children
